Manipulation of the Upper Respiratory Microbiota to Reduce Incidence and Severity of Upper Respiratory Viral Infections: A Literature Review

چکیده
There is a high incidence of upper respiratory viral infections in the human population, with infection severity being unique to each individual. Upper viruses have been associated previously secondary bacterial infection, however, several cross-sectional studies analyzed literature indicate that an inverse relationship can also occur. Pathobiont abundance and/or dysbiosis impair epithelial integrity and predispose individual infection. In this review we describe common commensal microorganisms capacity reduce pathobionts maintain symbiosis tract discuss potential limitations localized probiotic formulations bacteria infections.

Viral diseases. Herpesvirus 1 (rhinotracheitis; FHV-1) and calicivirus (FCV) are the most common viral causes of sneezing and nasal discharge in the cat. If oral ulcers are present, calicivirus is most likely. If corneal ulcers are present, herpesvirus 1 is most likely. FHV-1 has now also been associated with chronic stomatitis, facial dermatitis, and endogenous uveitis. Viral rhinitis with or ...
متن کاملUpper Respiratory Tract Infections
The upper respiratory system includes the nose, nasal cavity, pharynx, and larynx with subglottic area of trachea. In the normal circumstances, air enters the respiratory system through nostrils where it is filtered, humidified, and warmed inside the nasal cavity. Conditioned air passes through pharynx, larynx, and trachea and then enters in lower respiratory system. Dysfunction of any part of ...
